NEHRSA, The New England Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association is a non-profit regional trade association of the national association, IHRSA, International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association. NEHRSA offers many benefits to Member Clubs including two two-day Conferences each year; Annual Fitness Expo; Owner Roundtables (three annually); Workshops and Networks for Fitness, Sales, Front Desk, Group Exercise, etc. NEHRSA E-News, an electronic newsletter, includes important industry articles, information and events. With more than 400 Member Clubs in NEHRSA, the opportunity for developing strong networking contacts has never been greater!

Company History

Founded in 1978 as NERITA (an indoor tennis trade association) with John McCarthy as its Executive Director, NEHRSA was reorganized in 1981 as a pilot regional association for the newly formed national trade association, IHRSA.

NEHRSA is governed by a Board of nine Directors who are elected by the general membership for three year terms and up to five representatives who are appointed, one each, from the following states: CT, ME, NH, RI, VT.

Currently there are 400+ Member Clubs in New England and 70+ Associate Members.

NEHRSA publishes a bi-monthly electronic newsletter called "NEHRSA E-News" which is e-mailed to all member clubs. Important industry articles, information and events are included in the newsletter. Associate Members are given the opportunity to advertise.

NEHRSA provides many educational opportunities for owners, club managers, and employees of health and fitness clubs in New England. Conferences are traditionally held in the Spring and in the Fall each year with the Fitness Expo being the highlight of the Fall Conference. Many networking events are also held each year to provide on-going education.
